Sure you didn’t hear anything
Yeah right, Palin, you watched it without sound? You stayed-up late enough to watch somebody’s impression of you on national TV WITHOUT listening to them when your fucking annoying voice is your most recognizable characteristic? Lying bitch. Was she really that unprepared to answer questions developed by improv writers? Did the truth hurt that much?

What does she need a passport for? You can see Russia from land in Alaska.

Of course she watched it with sound, just doesn’t want to tell the truth. Seems fitting since she is in politics where no one tells the truth.
Its why I will never vote, ever. Its pointless. Who doesn’t lie, or hide truth? Politics are lame, govt sucks, your vote doesnt count for shit.

truth for danny:
well, we’ve had the voting debate here enough times, but you should probably consider that this is one of the few candidates that truly worked his way up by actually taking school seriously and helping a community – particularly the one danny is from (chicago), and was not part of the typical old-white-guy brigade from rich families that have mostly filled the candidate spots recently (clinton an obvious exception). so I would recommend that if there is EVER going to be one election you (danny) vote in, you should seriously consider it being this one, because you and obama probably have a lot more in common than you could possibly imagine (besides your skin color).

Why? Being in a Democratic State, Obama will win Illinois pretty much hands down. Thats what I’m talking about too. No matter what, Illinois will vote for the Democratic candidate and he would win the state.
While I sort of agree because Obama is different than any other candidate in recent years, it still does not matter for me living where I do. Now, if I had residence in Ohio or Florida or one of those “close call” states, then it would make sense.
Otherwise, enjoying voicing your opinion! The opinion I CHOOSE to voice is none. GOD BLESS AMERICA – TRUTH.

Is it weird that I think that “I like Palin” is code for “I hate black people”?
I guess it’s because you’d have to be coo coo for coco puffs to think Palin is a good VP candidate, and I’d rather think that a good chunk of the country is racist than think they’re off their fuckin rocker.

By the way, is that passport thing true? I heard it in a quote from Hagel, but it sounded like he could have just been making a condecending remark. If it IS true, why haven’t people been all over it? How the fuck can you be VP (let alone President) if you’ve never been outside the country in your adult life????? There are so many things about this twit that just shock the shit out of me. McCain must have been horny when he picked his running mate.

passport thing is true – she got it in 2007 before visiting troops in germany and kuwait. then she went on some family trip in europe and tried to count ireland as a legitimate place she visited even though it was a 30 minute refueling stop.
oh well, palin is just a distraction anyway, I probably shouldn’t have even mentioned it.

am I the only liberal who kind of thinks we need to stay in Iraq for many, many years to make sure it’s rebuilt successfully? Everyone wants to ball-out so quickly, but, you know, we kind of fucked it up in the first place. It’d be a dick move to just ball. Sure, less people over there probably, but I’m thinking we’ll need to help them recover from our fuck-up for maybe 20 more years.

Many different types of well-educated people think that, but the question is ultimately whether such a committment is worth the predicted return. Just because one is deep in an investment doesn’t mean that it is necessary to go all-in. It is arguable that donated political capital and diplomatic leverage, at this point, is more sensible/valuable to Iraq than pure militia. Regardless, I tend to believe that we have a greater interest in preventing nuclear holocaust, which is not an operation to take place on Iraqi soil; and while our resources are drained there, we are handcuffed elsewhere.

I agree that a lot could be done with sweet-ass spy shit and secret ops to take out bad dudes, along with “donated political capital and diplomatic leverage”. But you never know what could happen to Iraq if we pulled all military. Perhaps it becomes a centralized gathering place for all US-hating psychos where the next nuclear attack is planned. Although I suppose it already is.
Also, “worth the predicted return” for who? For us? Or for the country that we fucked up? Sure, a well-off Iraq is good for the US, but can we at least pretend like we actually care about the rebuilding of Iraq for the sake of Iraq and not just the security that it brings our own country?
Obviously we have to look out for ourselves, but I’m just saying it’s kind of fucked up. Not that I think we’ll do this, but it just seems like some super-dems act like we should just turn our back on Iraq and let it crumble like it’s not our problem anymore. They always say “we should never have been there, let’s get out!”. Well, fucking duh, we shouldn’t have been there. But get over that (5 fucking years they’ve been whining about it, we get it) and realize that what’s done is done, and now we’re left with fixing the mess. And that may or may not entail having troops in Iraq until 2048, along with a shitload of cash. Either way, it’s going to take a while to evaluate the situation, and the situation may change over time.

“but can we at least pretend like we actually care about the rebuilding of Iraq for the sake of Iraq and not just the security that it brings our own country?”
No. Foreign policy is about how we manipulate the world stage for the betterment of the US. And actually, I’m OK with that, as long as the people making the decisions have *some* level of intelligence. Nation building is fine, as long as we get a cut of the profits.
Iraq is no different than what we did to southeast Asia in the Vietnam era. It’s called cutting your losses, and America does it ALL THE TIME. It’s the same reason our allies and enemies are the same, it just depends what year it is.
We WILL be in Iraq for 20+ years, that was always the plan – a permanent base in the middle east. Doesn’t mean we’re at “war” anymore, just that there will ALWAYS be troops there. It’s the same reason we made Guam a territory and continue to keep troops in Okinawa 60 years after WW2.
“donated political capital?” I lol’d. We install the leaders of our choosing in Iraq and will continue to do so until it no longer serves our purpose.

How did I miss all this intenseness?!?
